The South Eastern Multiple Birth Association (SEMBA) is a support group for multiple birth familiies run by a volunteer committee of parents with multiples of their own.

Our aim is to provide a means of communication for sharing information on the care and raising of multiple birth children, as well as opportunities for connection, which is so important for parent wellbeing.

SEMBA supports families with multiples living in and around the south-east of Melbourne, covering much of the the local government areas of Port Phillip, Bayside, Glen Eira, Kingston, and now Monash.

Members have access to Expectant Parent Information sessions, presented by volunteer parents of multiples, as well as various information sessions with external speakers such as Sleep and Settling, School Readiness, Nutrition, Speech and Language development, and First Aid for Families. We also host regular social events for our families, such as our annual Easter picnic and End-of-Year Party, morning teas, and parent drinks, often at low or no cost to our members.

SEMBA also offers low cost hire of double electric hospital grade breast pumps.

Most importantly, SEMBA provides opportunities to connect with local families of multiples, because nothing is more valuable to parents of multiples than other parents of multiples!

SEMBA is proudly affiliated with the Australian Multiple Birth Association (AMBA).

SEMBA Playgroup, Connect & Grow (fortnightly Fridays)
Murrumbeena Maternal and Child Health Centre
06-02-2026 09:30 – 18-12-2026 12:30
Our SEMBA Playgroup runs every fortnight during the school term and offers a relaxed, welcoming space for families with twins and multiples to connect, play, and support one another. With fantastic indoor and outdoor areas, little ones can explore a sandpit, climbing play equipment, and open play spaces designed for safe and active fun. Whether your children are crawling, cruising, or climbing, there’s something for everyone. SEMBA will provide light refreshments for parents and children — but be quick, because the fruit always disappears fast! 🍎🍌 This playgroup is a safe, judgement-free space where you’re welcome to arrive when you can and leave when you must. There’s no pressure, no expectations — just community. And if you ever need an extra pair of hands, there’s always someone nearby ready to help, because that’s what SEMBA families do best. Perfect for building friendships, sharing experiences, and letting the kids play while parents connect. Always refer to the WhatsApp Playgroup channel to see if it's on that week :) Tentative dates are as follows: Feb 6, 20 Mar 6, 20 May 1, 15, 29 Jun 12, 26 Jul 24 Aug 7, 21 Sep 4, 18 Oct 16, 30 Nov 13, 27 Dec 11

Easter Family Picnic & Swap Meet
Centenary Park playground
10:00 – 14:00
The SEMBA committee look forward to once again hosting our annual Easter Family Picnic on Sunday April 19th. A FREE event for our members to help us connect and touch base with other families of multiples.  Bring your picnic rug and enjoy the sausage sizzle, face painting, and Easter egg hunt (about 11.30am). It's also a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old and new friends, and hopefully pick-up some hand-me-down goods. We will bring a number of cardboard boxes labelled by age group. If you have clothes or other hand-me-downs in good condition, please bring them along and put them in the relevant boxes for another family to use. A great way to reuse items and a win for the environment and our families’ budgets. This event is reserved for current SEMBA members; however you are welcome to bring along grandparents / additional adults to help out with your little ones. Tickets MUST be pre-booked via the 'Get Tickets' link for catering and insurance purposes. Here you can indicate how many adults and children will be coming, along with any dietary requirements you may have (we will do our best to cater accordingly). Please RSVP by Wednesday 15th April. This will allow us to get everyone catered for and make sure the Easter bunny has enough eggs to hide. Finally, if anyone can spare an hour to assist the SEMBA committee with the BBQ on the day, we would LOVE to hear from you! Please get in touch via email, at secretary@semba.amba.org.au. With thanks to Glen Eira City Council for their support with funding for this event. We’re looking forward to seeing you and enjoy a fun day together.
